How many miles per tank do you get?

Just out of sheer curiosity, what’s the farthest you can comfortably drive before refueling? According to Edmunds, mine can do 309.4 miles in the city or 404.6 on the highway, but the longest I’ve ever let it go was about 307 with mixed city/highway. Once I hit 250, I start looking for a good price, and if it ever reaches 300, I give up and fill at the next available stop... Which is risky, considering I often average a bit below the estimated city MPG... Haven’t run dry yet, though.

I’ve never actually bothered working it out myself, but it can manage 460 miles on a 45 litre tank, according to Parkers.

I once drove a BMW diesel some 550 miles before refueling. Almost pissed myself tho.

If I reeeaaally lay off the throttle I can go 400 miles to a tank. That being said, I usually get 250-300 miles a tank. Also keep in mind, I have a 20 gallon tank

Usually from 360-400 in my Fiat 500. I mostly drive freeway to and from work, so it stays in the high-30s to just-above-40 mpg range.

I’ve run out of gas in my Saab about 4 times in 2 years. I actually ran out on Monday. I usually can get to 370 with my 18 gallon tank. My truck also gets 370 on an 18 gallon tank. They both get 21 mixed driving. About 25 on the highway which should be about 450 miles but I never let it go over 400. I like how my 4x4 with all terrains get better or the same millage than my wagon on all seasons.

Usually just over 300. I haven't filled my tank and ran it until low in a while though. I have got about 390 out of it a couple times.

I’d be lucky to get 350 miles.

My father, though, has a diesel Focus. It will do about 4.3 l/100km on a long trip so with a 53 litre tank and some arithmetic we get...about 760 miles.

About 500 in all highway driving. About half that if I'm not being bored to tears with highway driving.

My car has an estimated range function. When I fill up its around 425 which seems right. I usually get a little over 100 miles per quarter tank.

180-220 miles out of 17 gallons, or 35 miles occasionally.

I’ll just say more than most people would think. I average a hair over 18mpg in my SL600. I usually fill up when it gets to 1/4 tank left.

But with my driving, if I average it out, all highway, I should see nearly 400-450 miles per tank. Once I start driving around town and running regular errands, I’ll go about 250 miles and start looking for a good/cheap gas station. At most, I can make a good push for about 330 miles based on my average mileage. These last four rows are the past couple weeks because I’ve been commuting to/from work every day with it.

According to my math, if I were to drive solely on the interstate without stopping, my car has around a 650 mile range.

My DD I’ve gone over 400 a few times, could probably hit 450 if I pushed it. Usually start thinking about it at 300, fill up somewhere between 3 and 4.

Truck, I get about 250-300 out of a 26 gallon tank, so it’s basically a Tesla.

My Charger I don’t ever go past 100, and that’s pushing it. It’s a 19 gallon tank.

Compact car - 350 if I really push it. Typically 320ish.

Luxury car - low 400s.

Beast car - almost 200.

That sounds fun. I drive a Cavalier, but it is very loud. I think I get such shit fuel economy because gas gauge is broken. Maybe I should push it to 250 miles this tank and see what happens.

I can get 500 miles comfortably out of my 14.5 Gallon tank. I never let it get below 1/8 of a tank just to be safe. From what I understand, running the system dry on a VW TDI is not good.

The Infiniti, when the engine behaves, and doesn’t miss, can get about 310 to a tank on premium, with a fair amount of city driving. 18.5 gal tank. If I forget to put premium and just put in regular, it drops to about 220-240. The Blue Durango I could normally get 300 during warmer months, 200 or so during colder months.

My parents’ former 1995 E300 Diesel had a broken fuel gauge, so we’d let the trip odometer get to about 550 or 600 miles in mixed suburban driving before refueling. Actual range might have been even more, but we didn’t really want to find out.

The Miata gets about 200-220 miles in the city from the 11-12 gallon tank. I’ve done about 300 miles on highway driving.

The GTX gets right around 200 city miles before needing to be refueled.

~200 miles using 14.5 out of 19 gals of the tank. I never run it down much further just so I have a buffer that’ll cover my lack of MPGs.

I get 18mpg in the Camaro (270mi range), 13mpg in the Jeep (200 on a good day), and 40-50 on the bike (usually 160, maxed out at 200). I refill at the fuel light to keep any fuel mixing to a minimum.

The fuel light means 20 miles til empty in the Camaro and Yamaha, and “HOLY SHIT PULL OVER NOW” in the Jeep.

My truck:

Theoretical - 325/375 city/highway

Practical - 300/300

Actual - I never really make it past 250 miles because the light comes on there (even though I have about 5 gallons left)

I also discovered my max touring range is just over 200 miles, which is pretty poor, but that’s on rough trails getting 8.5 mpg and factoring in a safety margin. Max touring range is ~220

My Wife’s Jetta Sportwagen TDI

Theoretical - 464/609

Practical - 493/652

Actual - I usually fill up around 450 miles or so, but I’ve stretched it to nearly 700 once.

2008 SAAB. I got 495 miles (trip said 797 km) once. 100% of it was highway. I was pretty impressed considering I only had to put in ~54 litres.

I had a tune on it that was geared towards fuel economy. Very reduced power.

400 miles comfortably, I should be able to get over 500 a tank if it’s all highway driving (based on my best real world fuel economy.) Around 450 miles a tank if it’s all city/running hard (again, based on worst observed mileage.) The car is an old Cadillac Deville with a 20 gallon tank.
